WashU Desk phones can be programmed for Off-net Call Forwarding (for off-campus destinations). Once complete, a Call Forward button programmed on the Avaya phone can be depressed by the user, who then enters the ten digit destination at the resulting dial tone; a stutter in the dial tone confirms the Forwarding is in place and the button will remain lit while the feature is activated, so the user doesn’t forget. Simply press the Call Forward button again to extinguish the light, and the Forwarding is deactivated. Inbound calls to the Avaya extension will exhibit a “half-ring” audibly, to remind the user calls are being Forwarded. The nice feature about this, is that any destination can be entered by the user, on the fly.
